Brachial Plexus Injury
The brachial plexus is a web of nerves that start at the neck and branch off producing many of the other nerves that regulate movement and sensation in the shoulder, arm, forearm and hand. Most brachial plexus injuries in adults and children arise from trauma. Symptoms such as pain, loss of sensation, weakness or paralysis of the shoulder and upper limbs could indicate an injury to the brachial plexus.
Dr. Yashar will perform a physical exam and order specialized diagnostic and imaging tests to confirm injury to the brachial plexus.
With some minor injuries, the nerves will heal on their own. The more severe injuries may require surgical attention.
